چکیده

Purpose The purpose of this study is to establish a systematic framework characterise the safety air routes, in terms separation minima infringements (SMIs) between en-route aircraft, based on definition models known as performance functions. Design/methodology/approach Techniques with high predictive capability were selected that enable both expert knowledge and data be harnessed: Bayesian networks. It was necessary conceptual integrates currently available causality precursors SMIs hindsight derived from analysis type available. To translate into set causal subnets, concepts traffic management (ATM) barrier model event trees have been incorporated. Findings combines analytics insights, well capability, answer question how airspace are produced what their frequency occurrence will be. main outputs network predicted probability success for ATM barriers distribution vertical horizontal an aircraft its closest point approach. Originality/value contribution work that, by virtue calculation capacity obtained, can used draw conclusions about impact modification traffic, or operational conditions, would effectiveness final distributions distance CPA, thereby estimating SMI.

Validating airspace Analyzer Metrics for En Route ATC Sector Complexity

The MITRE Corporation’s Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) has developed a tool, airspaceAnalyzer, to measure sector complexity. It does so by performing automated air traffic control—separating traffic while respecting aircraft performance and restrictions on altitude and miles-intrail. It outputs a suite of raw metrics, derived from characteristics of these resolutions. W...

An Algorithm to Identify Robust Convective Weather Avoidance Polygons in En Route Airspace

The paper describes an algorithm for constructing convective weather avoidance polygons. The algorithm combines weather avoidance fields (WAF) from the en route convective weather avoidance model (CWAM) with edges automatically detected in the echo tops field, clustering, convex hull fitting and wind data to build weather avoidance polygons. Results for 2 case days with significantly different ...

Page 1 of 13 EXPLORATION OF A MODEL RELATING ROUTE AVAILABILITY IN EN ROUTE AIRSPACE TO ACTUAL WEATHER COVERAGE PARAMETERS

A major concern in contemporary traffic flow management (TFM) is improving decision making when severe convective weather (Wx) impacts en route sectors throughout the National Airspace System (NAS). The FAA is currently seeking to reduce these convective weather delays through the use of multi-hour (e.g. 4 and 6 hour) Wx forecasts coupled with strategic planning by the FAA traffic flow managers...

Safety of advanced airborne self separation under very high en-route traffic demand

Since the “invention” of free flight, an outstanding question is how much traffic demand can safely be accommodated by airborne self separation. In order to answer this question, within the iFly project an advanced airborne self separation concept of operations (ConOps) has been developed. This paper shows the results of an assessment of this ConOps on safety risk under very high en-route traff...
